A zero day full of activity, our first wildlife experiences, and the first steps in to Yellowstone National Park.

The sun finally came out on the GYT making for some pleasant hiking for once! By the end of the day we had to be over 100 miles down the road to keep to our tight schedule, so time to start hitching!

Highs and lows are common on trail. The third day on trail was long and rough, yet it remains one of the most vivid days in my memory of the Greater Yellowstone Traverse.

The Greater Yellowstone Traverse has left me dumbfounded. In the one month I was out there I plotted new routes, traversed glaciers, climbed mountains, fished wild waters, and honed my photographic skills. The route features so many highlights of the American West in such a relatively short period of time it seems almost foolish to attempt to describe it. Fools be damned, I’m giving it a shot.
